MadeEasierGuides - A survival guide for foreigners in Turkey
This Website is dedicated specially to everybody living in Turkey and has been created to help anybody who lives or will live in Turkey with some useful addresses, numbers, links to important websites, insider information and much more
I moved to Ankara in 2007 not knowing the city, the country, the people and the language.
Many people like me when they move to Turkey are in the same situation. You don't know where to start looking for the items or places you need, you can not ask friends as you still don't have any, you cannot ask people on the street as you don't speak Turkish, etc...
Every time I found a place I thought it was useful to know, I kept a business card, but by the end of the week or the month, I could not remember what exactly it was and did not understand in Turkish what was written on it.
Ok, so let's start. I realized I was not the only one in town in my situation, so I started writing everything down, started meeting people, started learning some words of Turkish and started to enjoy exploring the city with the aim having it all together. Many foreigners kept on asking me where to find items and places, where to go on a trip, where to stay in other towns in Turkey, so my document where I started writing everything became bigger and bigger.
Then, it all started with "Ankara- Made Easier" in 2009 a guide that was published in English and in Spanish with all the useful and important information about Ankara. I printed the pages, bind them together and gave to all my diplomat friends a copy.
Now you can find all of the information here online.
Having had the possibility of traveling also a lot around Turkey, I continued with "Turkey-Made Easier", providing a lot of information of all the places I visited: Where to stay, where to eat, what to see and what you should not miss. We will be continuing constantly updating this part, so please be patient in case the place you want to see is not published yet.
By that time, I gathered so much information, that I decided to share also with the people I do not know. That was the time I created the website (2012) to publish it here and can be read by anybody who is interested in this beautiful country.
Now that I moved to Izmir, I have started with the "Izmir- Made Easier" guide for you. It will be then followed by " Istanbul- Made Easier".
In case you have places to recommend, please contact me and send me the information with your name and a picture attached if you want in order to publish. Any other suggestions or information you think should be useful to put here, please let me know.
You can see by the image below, that the website is constantly growing, thanks to YOU.
