There are many places where you can learn Turkish in Istanbul. The best option is to find a place close to where you live or work. otherwise, here are some known institutions:


Teaching English:
If you want to become an English teacher, you will be asked to have different certifications. Here are some places where you can get them:

Where to go with Kids:

  • Aviation Museum: Hava Kuvvetleri Müzesi Komutanlığı, Yeşilköy. Tel: (0212) 663 2490. Open weekdays from 09:00-16:00, week-ends until 18:00. Closed on Mondays. You will see the history of Aviation, a hanger with old planes, uniforms and much more. Fee 10 TL.
  • Bosphoros Boat Tour: some that start and end from the piers at the entrance of the Golden Horn and the piers near Dolmabahçe palace. Nice way to see Istanbul from the sea and enjoy fresh air at the same time.
  • Büyükada: This is the biggest of the nice islands of the so-called Princes' Islands. You can even go over the day by Ferry from Kadiköy. Book your ferry ticket in advance, specially on week-ends or bank holidays. On this island you can hire some bicycles or make a tour on a Horse carriage.
  • Chocolate Museum: Koza Mahallesi 1678 Sk. No:19 (Sanayi Mahallesi Evren Sanayi Sitesi Akbatı A.V.M. Arkası) Esenyurt. Tel: (0212) 411 1300. Open from 10:00-16:00. Closed on Sundays.
  • Emirgan Park: Reşitpaşa Mahallesi, Emirgan Sk., Sarıyer. In this Park there is also a Playground, Lakes and a slide, a coffee house and more. This is also the best park to go during the Tulip festival held each April in Istanbul.
  • Emaar Aquarium: Ünalan Mahallesi, Emaar Square Mall, Libadiye Cd No:82 D:KAT 2, Üsküdar. Open from 10:00-22:00.
  • Istanbul Naval Museum: Sinanpaşa Mahallesi, Beşiktaş Cd. 6/1, Beşiktaş. Tel: (0212) 327 4346. Open from 09:00-17:00. Closed on Mondays.
  • KidZania: Akasya Acıbadem, Ankara State Road Haydarpaşa Direction 4.Km Çeçen Sk. Acıbadem / Üsküdar. Tel: (0850) 200 5439. Opened daily from 10am to 8pm. KidZania is 8.000 sq.m big. You will find anything you want for kids. Lots of activities, baby care room, they organize Birthday parites and much much more!
  • KidzMondo: Trump Towers, Mecidiyeköy Yolu Cad. No: 12 B3 Katı, Mecidiyeköy, Şişli. Tel: (0212) 348 1000. Tue, Wed, Thu: open from 10:00-16:00. Fri, Sat, Sun: 10:00-20:00. Closed on Mondays. KidzMondo is an indoor theme park, designed for kids between the ages of 4 to 14. It features self - contained city built for and run by kids.
  • Legoland Discovery Centre: Kocatepe Mah., Paşa Cad., Bayrampaşa. Tel: (0212) 640 39 51. Open from 10am to 10pm. They also can organize Birthday partys, schools visits and much more.
  • Miniatürk: Örnektepe Mahallesi, İmrahor Caddesi, No: 7/1 Beyoğlu. Tel: (0212) 222 2882. A miniatur park of Turkey. There is also the Crystal Museum inside. Open from 09:00 to 19:00 every day. 15 TL entrance fee.
  • Playground at Zorlu Center: Zorlu Center, Levazım Mahallesi, Koru Sokak No:2, Beşiktaş. Tel: (0212) 444 9496. Its the best one in Istanbul with climbing center, slides, beach and many more things!
  • Rahmi Koç Transport Museum: Hasköy Cad. No: 5, Hasköy, Tel: (0212) 369 6600-01-02. Open from Tuesday - Friday, 10:00 to 17:00. There is also a Submarine that you can visit. Note: You need to book in advance and children under 8 years are not allowed to get in.
  • The Istanbul Aquarium  Tel: 444 9744 at Aqua Florya AVM: Şenlikköy Mahallesi, Yeşilköy Halkalı Cad. No:93, Florya / Bakırköy. Tel: (0212) 574 5900. A great place for kids. The Mall is just 15 minutes away from Atatûrk airport. Big place with lots of shops also and many restaurants with sea view. If you sit in one of them outside, you can admire the places coming into Istanbul.
  • The Toy Museum: Göztepe Mahallesi, Dr. Zeki Zeren Sk. No:17, Kadıköy. Tel: (0216) 359 4550. Open from 09:30am to 6pm. weekends until 7pm.
  • Vialand: Yeşilpınar Mahallesi, Şehit Metin Kaya Sok No:11, Eyüp. Tel: (0850) 210 8563. Theme park open from 11am to 8pm. Very big with lots of Food courts and much more. This is one of the top 10 in Europe.
  • Xtrem Aventures İstanbul Macera Park: Huzur Mah. Maslak Ayazağa Cd. No:4 Sarıyer. Tel: (0212) 328 2850-51. For the ones who like Adventures of all kinds.


If you want to escape from the summer heat in Istanbul, you can also drive 2 hours north to the Beach in Kumköy (also known as Kilyos) on the Black sea.
