The Aegean region accounts 52.7% of all the wine produced in Turkey. They are mainly around Izmir, Manisa, Denizli and Canakkale. The town of Urla is also known as a region for wines having several vineyards there. Actually, more then 150 hectares are devoted to it in Urla only.
The grape variety in the region are: Alicante Bouchet, Boğazkere, Bornova Misketi, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Chardonnay, Çalkarası, Çavuş, Dimrit, Grenache, Kalecik Karası, Karalahna, Kuntra, Malbec,Merlot, Mourvedre, Narince, Öküzgözü, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz (Syrah), Sultaniye, Tempranillo, Vasilaki, Viognier.

>>LA WINES: Kuşçuburun Mahallesi, Yazıbaşı Beldesi 4, Torbalı. Tel: (0212) 318 0077. From Izmir, take the old Aydin Road via Torbali to the LA Wines. Approximately 45 min from Izmir city center. L.A are the initials of Lucien Arkas who improved the quality of their wines since he bought this vineyard in 2010. It used to be called Idol wines. Try their Consensus wines, their Chardonnay / Chenin Blanc blend Mon Rêve and the new rosé Blush !
>>URLA Şarapcılık : Kuşçular Köyü, 8028 Sk. No:12 Ukuf Mevkii, Urla. Tel: (0232) 759 0111. Approximately 30 min.drive from Izmir city center.They have very very nice wines. Try their Tempus Redwine and their Serendias rose wines. they also have a 2-rooms Hotel inside their wineries. If you want to have a great lunch with their wines, go to the old port of Iskele in Urla and enjoy it ! See the list of the restaurants in Urla to find what you like.

Tel: (0232) 782 4959 . About 10 min from the Izmir International Airport, Adnan Menderes, there is this beautiful Winery with a nice restaurants. You can sit in the courtyard/garden under the tree and enjoy your lunch or dinner together with their nice wines. (no beer sold). Try their 900 Cabernet Sauvignon and 900 Pink Fume
>>URLICE: İçmeler Mah, 1168 Sokak, No 7, Urla -Tel: (0533) 466 9268. Approximately 30 min.drive from Izmir city center.They are a small boutique winery. The vineyard with the tasting house and wine cellar are open to visitors on the week-ends, but call before.

They have also several rooms - boutique hotel and you can have lunch inside or on their beautiful terrace overlooking the vineyards. Delicious food.Try their Thales and Bias Redwines and their Rose wine.
