The Karaburun Peninsula is a district in the province of Izmir. It is situated between Izmir and Çeşme . It is a nice day trip if you want to discover the country side with beautiful views, unspoilt little villages, little bays and eating a nice fresh fish.
You can drive up to Balıklıova, have a coffee or lunch at Garip'in Yeri (0232) 775 5013 or another Fish restaurant next to it. Continue to Mordoğan, have a small break for coffee or Ice-cream, there are several places at the waterfront. We like the Roma patisserie. You can relax at the beach or continue to the city of Karaburun. A nice place for lunch or stay overnight is NumberOne Apart Hotel & Restaurant.Tel: (0232) 731 4087. At the top end of the peninsula there is a lighthouse or you can go to the village called Ata'nın Yeri (Yeni Limani). Its a small Harbour with fisher boats and there is also a beach next to it where you can relax and swim. A place to stay there is called Lipsos Hotel & Restaurant. If you like to discover places, try to find the abandoned village of Sazak. Sazak today is a ghost town (the inhabitants left in 1923 during the population exchange between Turkey and Greece). Kuşadası and Milli Park
Kuşadası being one of the first and most important touristic centers of Turkey is a perfect destination for a day trip out of İzmir, in summer and winter time! İt is located 80km south of İzmir and the fastest/safest way to get there is via the Aydın highway. Kuşadası has exploded from a small coastal town to rather a small city nowadays, unfortunately, its success has become a little bit its downfall… Kuşadası has some gorgeous sand beaches, Ladies beach, Paradise beach and actually all the beaches alongside the 14km uninterrupted beach strip to Milli Park (25km from the city center). Milli Park being the crown jewel (in my opinion) is a protected National Park which makes you think of a faraway tropical destination, at one side you have the steep mountain and at the other side you have the crystal clear turquoise water. Perfect daytrip would be to go for a hike up the mountain and then have a swim in one of the four accessible bays. The water is perfect from mid/end April – begin November. Our favorite is the last bay ‘Karasu’. After that have a typical fish and mezze at one of the fish restaurants directly at the entrance of the park or hit back for the city center to have fish in one of the many fish restaurants there. Our favorites are Kazım Usta at the entrance of the cruise harbor or Mezgit across the renovated yacht marina. To finish a perfect day hit the ancient bazaar (warning: very touristic!) for shopping. Because Kuşadası is a very popular touristic destination, you can find a wide variety of touristic activities such as Aquaparks, Quad/Jeep/Horse safaris, parasailing (attached to a boat)… As you can read plenty of things to do in Kuşadası, so you might even consider it for a weekend out of İzmir!
